The Kicks Wake Up Krew

I've got a lot of awesome memories at WWE shows in Augusta. I can't wait to make more at the new JBA in a few years.

I’ve seen WWE Live in Augusta more times than I can remember. If there was wrestling at the James Brown Arena, I was there. I have a lot of fond memories of wrestling at that arena, and a lot of pictures. I’d like to share some of them with you. Let’s take a trip down wrestling memory lane for a few minutes, shall we?

Wrestling In Augusta

The WWE show this weekend is special because it will be the last one in the current James Brown Arena. I can’t tell you how many wrestling shows I’ve seen in that building. My dad would take my brother and me to WWF and WCW events at the Augusta Richmond County Civic Center, now James Brown Arena back in the 90s. Starting in the late 90s WWE would come to Augusta pretty much once a year, and you guessed it, I was always there!

From WCW Monday Nitros to WWE’s version of ECW’s “December To Dismember” pay-per-view, I saw them all at the JBA. Anytime that we knew wrestling was coming to town we would be there. Not only would we be there, we’d be there early trying to meet the wrestlers and get autographs before the show. Sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn’t. I did get to meet John Cena and Rey Mysterio that way.

If you’ve never seen wrestling live, I would highly recommend you check it out. Yeah, it’s fun to watch on TV, but it’s even more fun in person. It’s really cool to see all of your favorite stars up close. You see how big some of these guys really are. That’s one of the things we’ve always found cool over the years. I definitely think that we should pack out the JBA for WWE Live in Augusta one last time this weekend. You can get your tickets here.
