The Kicks Wake Up Krew

A beautiful sight! Nothing makes my heart happier than the beach.

David and I took the pups for their first beach trip this past weekend.  Our friends, Lisa and Michael, invited us to come to St. Helena Island, South Carolina.  We packed our stuff and the pups and headed there on Friday night.  This was the first long Jeep ride for Waylon, who hasn’t been a fan of riding.  He has slowly warmed up to riding and doesn’t cower down the whole time now.

We made it to St. Helena around 9:30 p.m. Lisa and Michael brought two of their dogs too, so I was a little anxious about how that meeting would go.  But, thankfully, they all got along really well!  On Friday night, we just hung out at the house, talking and laughing.  Saturday morning, David and I got up pretty early and took the pups for a walk to explore.  It wasn’t long before we wound up at the beach!

I was so excited to see how the pups would act. Harley has never been a fan of water. When we had a kiddie pool for the dogs, she would only drink out of it, and never even step in in.  So, I was really surprised when she actually did put her feet in the water on Saturday!  So proud of her.  Waylon was a bit more adventurous and got into the water a few times.  He even spotted a rock and wanted to go inspect it.

On Saturday afternoon, Lisa, Michael, David, and I all went down to another beach access for a little bit of swimming and sunning.  We weren’t out there very long when a dark grey cloud rolled in.  Pretty soon we saw lightening and got back on the golf cart to head back toward the house.

Lisa and Michael invited another couple over to grill out with us- David and Jessica.  Having two Davids made things a little confusing… but it was actually kind of scary just how similar my David and the other were!  We had so many great laughs.  At one point, we all piled onto the golf cart and rode down to the beach. It was so peaceful… until we showed up! Ha!  Good thing we were really the only ones out there.

On Sunday morning, David and I got up kinda early again and took the dogs on another walk.  We went back to the beach and walked up and down a bit, taking lots of pictures.  Then we took them over to Fort Fremont to walk some more.  I’d say overall, the first beach trip for the pups went really well, and we can’t wait to go back!
