On Friday night, we hosted the first-ever Kicks 99 Songwriter Series at the Columbia County Performing Arts Center. It was a special night featuring some of Nashville’s biggest songwriters. To get things started, we had a Kicks 99 Songwriter Series VIP experience. The event was hosted in the Windsor Club at the Performing Arts Center. Guests were welcomed in and given their VIP badges and special show posters signed by the songwriters. See VIP photos below!
A special thanks to WifeSaver for providing food for our guests. And also to our songwriters, the Warren Brothers, Liz Rose, and Lee Thomas Miller. They made their rounds in the VIP area ahead of the show! We hope everyone enjoyed the night as much as we did. And we hope this is something we can make a yearly thing.
Highlights From The Show
In a similar fashion to our Kicks 99 Guitar Pull, the Songwriter Series was an acoustic, stripped-down show. The songwriters were on stage with just a few guitars, their stools, and the microphones. Each songwriter took turns talking about the songs they’d written. They talked about what sparked the ideas behind the songs and just the overall songwriting process. Then, they performed those songs.
There were so many fun moments during the show. If you’re like us, you loved hearing the funny stories from the songwriters as they talked about collaborations with artists. It’s also interesting to hear these songs from the songwriters as they sing them the way they envisioned them. Perhaps one of our favorite moments was when Liz Rose invited the Taylor Swift fans on stage to sing with her. While she originally imagined getting 5 or 6 girls on the stage, we wound up with a small crowd! But it was such a fun and powerful moment.
