We took a trip to Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia recently. My wife and I had been wanting to take our daughter for a while, and we decided that this past Saturday was as good of a time as any to go. Our daughter is learning more and more about animals, and she's getting good at recognizing them, and the sounds that they make. So we wanted to take her to see some of the animals up close.

Riverbanks Zoo In Columbia Is Just Up The Road

My wife and I have been to Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia a few times, and we always had a great time. We wanted to share that with our daughter. From our house in Grovetown to the zoo was a little less than an hour, so it didn't take long to get there at all. Once we got inside, we got right to it. We wanted to see some animals!

Thankfully most of the animals were out where we could see them. I think the lions were the only ones who weren't out. However, we were able to see bears, tigers, giraffes, zebras, kangaroos and a whole bunch more. They also have an aquarium, a monkey exhibit, a sea lion tank, and a reptile house at Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia.

There are also other little attractions like the splash pad over in the botanical gardens. They also have a petting zoo area, a ropes course, a merry-go-round and lots of other cool stuff. There are even places to feed some of the animals.

Our daughter is almost two and I think she enjoyed herself as much as she could. We will definitely have to take her back when she's a little older. And with the zoo being so close, that definitely won't be a problem.

This Bear Was Straight Chillin'

ZooB.jpgDub

One of the first animals we saw was this bear. He was living his best life. Chillin' in the water and playing with his giant Kong toy.

This Koala Was Catching A Nap

I could connect with this koala on a spiritual level. He was catching a nap, I know how important those can be.

Checking Out The Merry-Go-Round

At first Maddie wasn't too sure about the Merry-Go-Round

She realized she liked it pretty quick. She liked it so much that she wanted to go again and ran to get back in line.

A Beautiful Tiger

The only tiger I've seen recently was Tiger Woods at The Masters. I was looking forward to seeing a tiger at the zoo. This one was beautiful.

"Hi Goat"

Maddie loved the petting zoo area. She kept saying "Hi Goat" to all of the goats.

We Love The Giraffes Too

Another animal we always look forward to seeing at the zoo is the giraffe.

Maddie and I were checking out the sea lions.

She Was Worn Out

We were hoping to get back to the car before Maddie fell asleep. As we were heading to the exit, we looked down and saw this. She had a big day at the zoo.
