The Kicks Wake Up Krew

After our first trip to Beaufort and St. Helena Island, we have fallen in love with the area.  We’ve made a couple of day trips and just got back from a long weekend away! Our friends, Michael and Lisa, invited us down.  We left on Thursday night and stayed through Sunday morning.  Thankfully, we’ve been able to bring the pups along with us too.

Thursday night, we got in pretty late, so we just unloaded the Jeep and hung out at the house for a bit.  Friday morning, David and I got up and took the dogs down to the beach for a nice long walk.  Harley is still not a fan of the water.  The first trip we made down there, she did put her feet in the water briefly.  But this time, she wasn’t having it at all.  She does like walking on the beach though with the nice breeze blowing.

Waylon is my water dog, which has me more convinced he’s definitely got some Labrador Retriever in his blood! He walked in the water with me quite a bit.  And it’s so adorable the way he high-steps in the water.  Each morning we were there, the pups got to walk along the beach.

Fun in St. Helena Island

On Friday, we went to Hunting Island State Park for a fun day on the beach with Michael, Lisa, and our new friends David, Jessica, and their son, Tucker. We packed a lunch and just spent some time sunbathing and enjoying the waves.  Then, on Friday evening, we went to downtown Beaufort for dinner.  The Water Festival was going on in Beaufort, and there was a Led Zeppelin tribute band playing by the water.  So we went to Panini’s and sat on the patio to check it out. While we were there, David and Jessica got a call from their son about finding a baby deer in the road.  Later, he brought it over to Michael and Lisa’s!  That was just one of a few wild animal moments we had!

Saturday we spent most of the morning just relaxing.  Later that day, we went down to the beach on the Port Royal Sound.  We took some floats and simply hung out and enjoyed a beautiful afternoon.  Then Saturday evening we grilled out and spent more time just hanging out and laughing.

An Amazing Weekend!

It was a perfect weekend!  We had so much fun and were able to really kick back and relax.  I can say it was a much needed vacation, and it was really hard to leave yesterday!  We’re already trying to figure out when we can make another trip down there. Oh, and we’re hoping to plan a cruise with Michael, Lisa, David, Jessica, and my David and me, for next year.

Check out some photos from the weekend, and see some of the wild animals we saw!
