It’s that time of the year again.  Christmas. Yes, but Christmas brings out the, “What am I gonna do with this elf on the shelf today?” Here are 6 Elf On The Shelf ideas that should make it a little more fun.  A few of these ideas might make it easy for you too.

Just How Did This Elf On The Shelf Get Started?

A mother and her daughter,  Carol Aebersold, and her daughter Chanda Bell wrote a book called:  The Elf On The Shelf: A Christmas Tradition.  This was a tradition in their home and they thought, that if it worked for them, it could help others.  According to the book, you get your elf and you can name him whatever you’d like.  Your child naming the elf is where his magic comes from.  Now what does the Elf do?

From the day after Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve,  the Elf goes back to the North Pole at night. His job is to let Santa know if the kids are naughty or nice for the day.  When the kids wake up the next morning, The elf is back.   He will be in a new spot in the house each day.  After his trip back, he probably has been up to no good and got into some trouble or made a mess.

Once Christmas is over, the elf returns to the North Pole where he will rest up and get ready for next year’s festivities.

Now the days between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve can feel like a lifetime of days.  Each day you have to move the elf.  You also have to show something that lets the kids know that he’s been on the move.  So here 6 Elf On The Shelf Ideas that will help you get creative when it comes to your elf’s daily placement.
