The Kicks Wake Up Krew

When it comes to Augusta experiences, you’d think I’d have done a lot around here.  But, the truth is, there’s still a lot for me to check out in the area.

I moved to the Augusta area in March of 2017.  I bought a house in North Augusta and didn’t know much about the area, other than Augusta being known for The Masters tournament.  Until we started looking at houses, I’d never even been to Augusta.

I grew up in a small town. There wasn’t much to do there.  We had one big event every year… and that’s Buggy Days.  And I was crowned Miss Buggy Days in 2004.  Other than that, and high school football games, there wasn’t much going on in Barnesville, Georgia.

I lived in Gainesville, Georgia while I was in college.  It’s a much bigger town that what I was used to, but school consumed most of my time.

I did have an internship in Atlanta my senior year of college.  That was fun.  I always loved going to Atlanta.  And I used to embarrass my mom any time we were in Atlanta because I looked like such a tourist. I was just fascinated with how much was going on at any time of the day or night.  Going to the Fox Theatre was one of my favorite things.  As a dancer, seeing performances there was always fun.

Augusta Experiences

So, now I’ve been in Augusta for almost 6 1/2 years.  And while I have experienced many things, there are still so many Augusta experiences I haven’t tried yet.  Some of them are because I didn’t even know they existed. Others I just haven’t made the time for.

I know a lot of people say there’s nothing to do in this town… but I’ve found time and time again… that’s simply not true! I think there’s something to do every single weekend and then some!

So, here are a few Augusta experiences I have discovered, and can’t wait to try out soon!

  • Ghost Tour

How did I not know there were Augusta tours… including ghost tours?!  Apparently, they’ve been doing this for 20 years.  But I had no idea.  It wasn’t until a coworker mentioned seeing a post on Facebook.  I immediately had to look it up.

I’ve only been on a couple of ghost tours before… Including one in college on our campus, because it was supposed haunted. Then I have done one in Savannah, and one in Fernandina Beach/Amelia Island, Florida.

I cannot wait to check out this one in Augusta!  And my friend Lisa and I are also planning to do one in Beaufort, SC this fall!

  • Pedal Pub

This is a newer Augusta experience.  I remember hearing about it when they were getting ready to open.  I’ve never done anything like this. But it looks like it could be fun!

I’m not a beer drinker, so I thought I wouldn’t enjoy this. But just the other day I saw their post about BYOB.  And that can be beer, cider, wine, or seltzer.  So now, I’m in!  Just gotta schedule the party!

  • Glamping

I’ve never been a big camping-type person.  Not that I’m against it.  It just wasn’t something I got to experience a lot growing up, so it’s not something I’ve made a priority to check out.  I’ve heard the term “glamping,” and while I’m not opposed to regular camping… this glamping just seems like it could be a lot of fun.

I happened to stumble upon Timberline Glamping Augusta not too long ago on Instagram.  It looks gorgous.  It’s at Wildwood Park on Clarks Hill Lake.  And anytime I get to be near the water, I’m happy… so this is definitely something I’d love to try for a little weekend getaway that’s close by!

  • Cocktail Workshop

Not quite sure how I stumbled upon this one.  But it looks like it could be a lot of fun.  You can learn to make a bunch of fun, delicious cocktails.  All Equal Parts has this “Bartender For A Day” where they do themed cocktail demonstrations with hand-on drink mixing education!

They’re hosted by a renowned Augusta bartender, Zach McCabe.  Looks like the next available date is Wednesday, August 9 at Noble Jones…
