What are my favorite Elvis songs? That’s a question I’ve been asked a bunch over the years, and it’s one of the hardest questions for me to answer. I’ve been an Elvis fan since I was a kid. He’s an artist that I’ve always loved. Elvis’ music just instantly puts me in a good mood, it always has.

Elvis Has Always Been My Favorite

Anyone who really knows me knows I’m a hardcore Elvis fan. I’ve read a ton of books and watched a bunch of documentaries about him. Of course, I’ve seen all of his movies. Some of them were good, and some were less than stellar. Elvis would’ve been 89 years old today, so I figured today was a good day to really dig into some awesome Elvis music. Isn’t it crazy to think he would be almost 90? I can’t imagine seeing Elvis as an old man.

Narrowing down this list was tough. Elvis had so many hit songs that spanned three decades. So what I thought I’d do with this list was give you some of my favorite songs that you’ve probably heard before, and some that you may have never heard, but are absolutely awesome!

In my opinion, Elvis was one of the only artists that could sing any genre of music and make you believe it. If he sang a country song, you believed it, or if he sang a blues or gospel song, you believed it. There aren’t many artists, past or present that can do that, but Elvis could do that.

It was tough to narrow these down, but here are my favorite Elvis songs.

  • "Trying To Get To You"

Elvis originally recorded this one back in the mid 50s, but the version I really like is the one from his iconic ’68 Comeback Special.

  • "Fame And Fortune"

This is one of the first songs Elvis released when he returned home from the Army in 1960. I’ve always loved that 50s/60s slow ballad sound, and this song is the perfect representation of that.

  • "Mystery Train"

This is one of the first songs Elvis recorded at Sun Records back in the mid 50s. You can tell how young he was, and its probably my favorite early Elvis song.

  • "An American Trilogy"

I love this song because no matter how many times Elvis sang it, he always brought it with this song! Its so well produced and you can just tell he loved singing it. This one always makes people feel something when they hear it.

  • "Suspicious Minds"

This is one of Elvis’ biggest career songs and I just can’t help but sing along with it, no matter how many times I’ve heard it.

  • "Treat Me Nice"

This song is from the soundtrack of Elvis’ third movie “Jailhouse Rock”, and while that was definitely the most popular song from that movie, I actually like this one better.

  • "Way Down"

This was one of Elvis’ last songs, but its one of the most “rock” sounding songs that he’d done in a while.
