The 2007 Kicks99 Guitar Pull was special. Of course, they’re all special, but this one was extra special, especially when you look back on it now. In 2023, you can see that we had three future country superstars on that show. Three artists that we would beg to have back on the show now.
2007 was the first year that Guitar Pull was held at the USCA Convocation Center. It would spend three years in that venue, 2007-2009. The show would move over to the James Brown Arena in 2010. We wanted to bring a great show to Aiken that year, and I think we did just that.
The lineup in 2007 was Dierks Bentley, Blake Shelton, Jo-Dee Messina, Eric Church, Bucky Covington, and VanZant. Yes, you read that right, we had Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, and Blake Shelton on the same show. Of course, in 2007 these three artists weren’t the superstars that they are now, but they were on their way.
I loved this show because all of the artists had so much fun, and you could definitely tell. That’s what the show is all about, and that’s what we hope we see every single year. The 2007 show is an example of you never know who you’re going to see at Guitar Pull. In fact, just the year before in 2006 we had a fairly new artist named Jason Aldean on the show.
There are some videos from the show in 2007 that I found on YouTube. Please bear in mind that cell phone cameras have come a long way since then. However, I wanted y’all to see that yes indeed we did have Blake Shelton, Eric Church, and Dierks Bentley on the same stage way back in 2007.
Speaking of Blake Shelton, we think he’s going to be on tour next year. You can get all of the latest news on that here.
