What are the best Halloween treats for toddlers? This is a pretty important question in my life right now. Our daughter is 13 months old. She’s eating pretty much everything that her mom and I eat. The one thing that our daughter Maddie really hasn’t had much of is candy and sweets.
Of course with Halloween coming up, there’s candy and sweets everywhere. But what can our toddler actually have? What’s safe for her, and what’s not quite so safe? I was just reading this article from BabyCenter, and they were talking about the treats and candies that you should stay away from with toddlers, as well as the ones that are totally fine for them to have.
These are some of the Halloween candies and treats that pediatricians recommend you stay away from if you have kids under the age of four.
- M&Ms (both regular and peanut)
- Reese’s Pieces
- Twizzlers
- Skittles
- gummy bears
- Milk Duds
- Whoppers
- Blow Pops
- Tootsie Pops
- Jolly Ranchers
- Sour Patch Kids
- candy corn
As you can imagine, these shouldn’t be given to kids under four because they’re choking hazards. Pediatricians say kids are less likely to choke on something if they have to take a bite out of it. And chocolate candy is good, because it melts away and shrinks.
