Who are the Best TV Dads? This is the question we wanted to answer with “The Friday Five” this week. We all have a favorite dad on our favorite TV show. Most of them come from sitcoms, but there are great TV dads in other shows as well. However, which ones would we consider the best ones? This week we listed them.

In my opinion to make the list the dad has to be well rounded. They need to be funny. The dad should be firm when they need to be. I think ultimately they should be relatable. You should look at that dad on TV and say “that reminds me of my dad”. Those are the factors I think a lot of y’all took into account when casting your votes this week.

Just like every week, this list was compiled from your phone calls and Facebook comments. Before we get to the top five, here are some other TV dads that got votes, but didn’t make the list.

  • Charles Ingles from “Little House On The Prarie”
  • Red from “That 70s Show”
  • Uncle Phil from “The Fresh Prince of Belair”
  • Cliff Huxtable from “The Cosby Show”

This is the “Friday Five” for this week. The Top 5 list of the Best TV Dads.

  • Andy Taylor from "The Andy Griffith Show"

“The Andy Griffith Show” just stands the test of time. I think it portrays a simpler life that we all wish we could live. When you think of what a TV dad, or a real dad should be, a lot of Sheriff Taylor’s qualities come to mind. Here’s some lessons from Andy Taylor.

  • Danny Tanner from "Full House"

I think that Danny Tanner is probably the most relatable TV dad on this list. Most of us dads see a lot of ourselves in Danny. Check out some of Danny’s funniest moments from the show.

  • Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor from "Home Improvement"

We’ve all met that one dad. You know the one who wants to be a handy man, but he ends up breaking more than he fixes? We all know that guy, or you might be that guy. I think thats why a lot of people can relate to Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor. Here are some of his funniest accidents.

  • Carl Winslow from "Family Matters"

“Family Matters” was one of my favorite shows growing up. Carl Winslow was the perfect TV dad. He had all of the qualities we listed earlier. Like Danny Tanner, a lot of us can relate to Carl. We either wanted to be like Carl or we knew a dad like Carl. And like Carl, we can all freak out from time to time. Here are some of Carl’s best freak out moments.

  • Al Bundy from "Married With Children"

We all wanted to be Al Bundy at some point. Someone brought up this morning that Al might’ve been a little rough around the edges, but he was a present parent. He hated his job but he got up every morning and went to work and provided for his family. He was rough around the edges, but he was a good man where it counts. Here are some of Al Bundy’s best moments.
