Benedict Cumberbatch Admits Concerns Over ‘Doctor Strange 2’
Benedict Cumberbatch has shared initial concerns he had about Doctor Strange 2 during a new interview.
The actor was discussing the Marvel sequel during a December 2 episode of Marc Maronās WTF Podcast. Maron asked about the new film, titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, asking Cumberbatch: āSo, Doctor Strange 2 is your movie?ā
Cumberbatch replied, āYeah. Well… yeah thatās part of the problem. Thereās a lot of stuff going on in it. Itās like, do I have a character arc in this? Is it working?ā He then walked back the concern, telling Maron: āNo, thereās great stuff for me to do. Itās very busy. Itās called The Multiverse of Madness, and itās bonkers.ā
Speaking about his decision to join the Marvel Cinematic universe, Cumberbatch said, āYouāve got to embrace it. Youāve got to just enjoy it. Itās a celebration.ā
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is directed by Sam Raimi, and was directly set up in the finale of WandaVision, which aired February of this year. Elizabeth Olsen will co-star in the film alongside Cumberbatch, who will next be seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home, out in theaters December 17. Cumberbatch, 45, can currently be seen in Netflixās The Power of the Dog, starring alongside Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons and Paul Dano.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be released on May 6, 2022.
