Kicks 99 Loves The Cotton Bug Bakery’s Desserts
Kicks 99 listeners have probably heard about The Boll Weevil and their classic desserts, but what about where they come from?
What was once an old cotton warehouse from the 1870s, the Boll Weevil Café is a great place to soak in the old and new of Augusta. Because two of the neighboring restaurants were named Cotton Row and The Cotton Patch, The Boll Weevil Café and Sweetery was named for the cotton-eating insect. The menu features more than 30 homemade desserts, as well as favorites like fried green tomatoes and shrimp and grits.
Their approach to dining is to provide a unique experience, complete with fresh home-baked desserts and dishes at casual dining prices. The Boll Weevil has been named “Best Desserts” four years running by Augusta Magazine and has been featured in Southern Living and Cooking with Paula Deen.
Thanks to their dedicated staff, they’ve had great success and have been able to expand. Two doors down, they’ve opened the Cotton Bug Bakery where we can find an abundance of all the classic–and favorite–desserts! To try some of Cotton Bug Bakery’s treats, place an order by phone or in person.
