Jaycie Ward – From Augusta Fair Talent Show To Guitar Pull and More
It’s 2006 and the Exchange Club Fair is going on just like many years prior. Little did we know that we would meet an 8-year-old that would blow us away. A lady in our sales department was at the fair that night. She heard Jaycie Ward sing in a talent competition. A singing competition that she won that night.
The next day, the late Jean Stewart of our sales team came in bragging about this 8-year-old kid who sang the night before at the fair. Jean called up Jaycie’s parents to bring her to the Kicks 99 studios to sing for us. Jaycie came in and performed the National Anthem. She blew us away and we said she needs to sing the National Anthem at Guitar Pull.
Jaycie remembers that day. “I was brought into a meeting with a group of people from Kicks 99 and Beasley. As a kid, singing in front of big audiences didn’t scare me, but small audiences did! I remember being so nervous walking into a conference room of people and singing the National Anthem for them. But little did I know how they were about to change my life!”
The 2006 Kicks 99 Guitar Pull
In 2006, she sang the National Anthem for the first time and pretty much every year for almost 10 years. She came back in 2019 and 2022. That first year Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, Jeff Bates, Daryll Worley, and Julie Roberts were your stars. By the end of the night, every artist on the stage wanted their picture made with her and Jeff Bates even had Jaycie autograph his jacket.
Pretty much any night of the week around the CSRA you can find Jaycie singing at different restaurants, events, and nightlife locations. Her dream was to be a performer from a young age and she credits her days singing The National Anthem as a major jumping-off point of her music career
Opportunities For Jaycie Ward
“Y’all not only provided me the opportunities with Guitar Pull, but also had me singing at A Day in the Country each year. There were even a couple of years that I was not just the anthem performer for Day in the Country, but was a scheduled act! If it weren’t for the support and love you guys gave me growing up, I don’t think I’d be playing music full-time now. It gave me the confidence to keep going and experiences and stories to last a lifetime!” said Jaycie.
To say that all of us here at Kicks 99 are more than proud of this 8-year-old kid who has grown into a beautiful and talented young lady would be an understatement. Jaycie was born and raised right here in Beech Island. Her parents Bobby and Cathy Ward are beyond proud of their baby girl. To make all of us feel just a little bit older, This 8-year-old we met in 2006 married her husband Phillip in September of this year.
