For the 18th year, The Boss Hog BBQ Cook Off was a major success and a ton of fun. When it comes to having a festival, no one has a fun time like the The Boss Hog BBQ Cook Off. Smokers from all over the country came into Waynesboro Georgia to compete for prize money and trophies and to be crowned the best of the Boss Hog BBQ Cook Off.
The Fun Of The Boss Hog BBQ Cook Off
The gates opened on Friday at 5 and we took it to the closing of the gates at 11p. Once ya entered the gates all the rides for the kids were free, the music was free and the fun was free. Even some of the food was free because starting at 6:30 Free Wings were available while they lasted ! All you had to do was Look for the “GOT WINGS” balloons and the wings were free to sample! Big thanks to Knight’s Butchering & Processing & D.O.O.R. for the free wings. They were good.
Live music started at 6:45 with Blaine Craft from Statesboro Georgia, then around 8ish, Mackenzie Carpenter took the stage. A lot people didn’t know this but Mackenzie is a Georgia girl who is from Athens, Georgia and is also the co writer of Megan Moroney’s current song, “I Ain’t Pretty”! A beautiful Fireworks show filled the sky over The Boss Hog BBQ Cook Off just before Dillion Carmichael took the stage to close out the night with his high energy show.
Saturday, it started all over again with the gates opening 10AM, with a day full of fun and live music from The Harlem Sons! Then the all the awards were handed out and the winners were crowned.

If you’ve never been to The Boss Hog BBQ Cook Off, make sure you make it in 2025. There is so much fun to be had. Other than the food, it’s a great chance to see old friends and enjoy a weekend of fun in one of the greatest cities in our area.
