By now, you probably know that I'm a huge dog lover!  Well, really, just a huge animal lover overall.  But I have three dogs of my own.  So I like to think I know a few things about the best dog movies!

Honestly, I haven't always been this way though!  When I was younger, my sister was the first one to really ask for a dog.  We lived in the country and often had stray animals come up that we would feed.  And because we fed them, they'd usually hang around for a while!  When I was in my early teens, I wanted a kitten.  A friend of mine had a cat that had kittens, and I really wanted one.  My dad and mom actually wound up surprising me with one of them!  But he was an outside cat.  And I loved him dearly.

It wasn't until after college that I really started wanting a dog of my own.  One that I could have inside.  I was planning to move out on my own, and thought having a dog would make me feel safer! At the time, I was still living at home with my parents, so I had to get my dad's approval.  That's when I finally got my first dog of my own... Cody, a black lab!  He was around 8 weeks old.  My world was changed forever.

Cody (not intentionally named after me... that's a long story) has been my rock for going on 13 years now!  We've been through SO many life changes together.  I don't know where I'd be without him.  He's perfect!  And when he was 6 years old, we added Harley, a beautiful pit mix, to the family.  She's my silly, sweet, attention-hog, affectionate cuddle bug.  She demands attention and love!  And of course, just a few short months ago, we added Waylon to the crew!  While I wasn't prepared for a third pup, I couldn't say no when I saw him.

Since I am such a huge dog lover... I've seen quite a few movies about dogs.  And I have to be honest, most of them have made me cry.  But I figured I'd share some of the best dog movies (in my opinion).  So here we go!

The Best Dog Movies:

Animated Dog Movies

The Secret Life of Pets

In recent years, this has definitely been one of my favorite movies about dogs!  It's super cute, and funny.  I always wonder what my dogs would do when I'm not around!

All Dogs Go To Heaven

This is a childhood classic!  I honestly don't remember much about the movie... but I do know I really liked it when I was growing up!

101 Dalmatians

Another classic!  Who wouldn't love to be surrounded by so many puppies?!

Lady and the Tramp

Perhaps I'm showing my age a bit with all of these classic movies!  But how could you not love Lady and the Tramp?

The Fox and the Hound

This might be one of the first dog movies that made me cry!  It's absolutely a heart breaking scene.  And I know, it's mostly the fox... but still!

Non-Animated Movies

Beethoven

I remember having this one on VHS!  Loved Beethoven.  Maybe that's why I love BIG dogs?

A Dog's Purpose

This one... and the two that follow all had me in TEARS!  Just shows the love of a great dog, and how much they become part of our story!

A Dog's Way Home

A Dog's Journey

Marley & Me

I watched this one before I ever had an inside dog of my own. And I still cried like a baby! I don't think I could watch it now!

Hachi

I just watched this one within the past few years... and what a story.  WOW!  Grab the tissues for sure!  I sobbed so much after this one!

Dog Gone

This is a new one on Netflix.  And believe me... based on the title, I thought I'd set myself up for a really good cry.  I did tear up a bit, but not for the reason you think!  It's a really sweet story, and it's based on a true story! Bonus... they shot this movie in Georgia!

Dog

I really liked this one too!  It wasn't as emotional as the others!  And has some pretty funny parts too!
