Today, September 22, 2022, at 6 pm starts the greatest time of the year. It’s Fall! Fall is without a doubt my favorite time of the year for many reasons but there are two that I can give without any seconding guess. It gets darker early, (and I know I’m one of only a hand full of people who like this), and number 2, CHRISTMAS! Happy Fall, Ya’ll!
Getting Darker Early And Why It Happens
It’s called the Fall Equinox. Astronomically it’s the day when the sun crosses the celestial equator heading south. Thus, the fall and spring equinoxes provide Earth with roughly 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness and after today, we will have more darkness than daylight until the Spring Equinox
It’s also the time when leaves change colors and we all head to the mountains to see the colors. One of my favorite places to go, for two reasons, is The Sky Top Orchard in Flat Rock North Carolina. Reason one, The Apple picking, and Reason two, The colors are changing and the weather is a bit cooler.
The Holidays Of Fall
Now you have my attention. The first day of Fall makes me start thinking, when can I put up my Christmas Decorations? For me, by November 1st it’s all up, (Don’t Judge Me, I love Christmas” We also have Halloween and Thanksgiving, and then in winter, we have Christmas, and The New Year.
Last But Not Least-Football
Even though the season has been underway for a few weeks, there is nothing like a beautiful fall Saturday and Sunday to put a spread of food out and watch football all day. Now that alone is a great reason to love Fall.
