‘A Salute To The Songwriters’ Hosted By Luke Bryan Will Feature Jessi Alexander
Mark your calendar: this Saturday night at 8 pm ET, Luke Bryan is hosting a special three-hour show that will air on our station: “BMI Presents: A Salute To The Songwriters – Benefiting The MusiCares COVID 19 Relief Fund.”
Jessi Alexander is one of the songwriters who will be featured. Alexander is a Nashville songwriter that has written big hits for Blake Shelton, Miley Cyrus, Lee Brice, Tim McGraw, Celine Dion, Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett, Trisha Yearwood, and Ashley Monroe among others.
Alexander, who released her own album Decatur County Red in March of 2020, says, “In Nashville, everybody wants to categorize you as either an ‘artist’ or a ‘writer’ but there was never a distinction for me.”
She adds, “A lot of people like to argue what is and isn’t country music, but I think it’s pretty simple. Be real, be raw. That’s country music to me.”
Jessi won both the CMA and ACM Song of the Year honor for 2013’s “I Drive Your Truck” by Lee Brice.
Be sure to catch “A Salute to the Songwriters – Benefiting The MusiCares COVID 19 Relief Fund” hosted by Luke Bryan and featuring the songwriters behind some of country music’s biggest hits performing from their homes while telling stories about the creation of the songs.
Other songwriters joining them are Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson, Natalie Hemby, Dylan Altman, Clint Daniels, Barry Dean, Luke Dick, Jeff Hyde, Brandon Kinney, Jon Randall and Wynn Varble.
