Keith Urban: ‘Who Knows’ If He Will Ever Duet With Nicole Kidman
For years we have asked Keith Urban if he was ever going to sing a duet with his wife, actress Nicole Kidman. Kidman proved her singing skills in her Oscar-nominated role in the 2001 movie Moulin Rouge.
Nicole is currently singing a duet with English actor and pop singer Luke Evans, who appeared with Kidman in the 2021 Hulu original drama series Nine Perfect Strangers. She recently posted a song clip on her Instagram, writing, “Thank you, darling @TheRealLukeEvans, for asking me to be a part of this duet! Listen to ‘Say Something’ from his gorgeous new album #ASongForYou at the link in my bio xx.”
Several of her actor friends responded to the post. Rita Wilson wrote, “So beautiful!!!!!” Actress Naomi Watts commented, “This is so beautiful nice!!” Luke also said, “Thank you!!! Xxx.”
The new song’s chorus includes the lyrics, “Say something; I’m giving up on you / I’m sorry that I couldn’t get to you / Anywhere, I would’ve followed you / Say something, I’m giving up on you.”
When we interviewed Keith a day before the CMA Awards (11/8), I asked if this was the introduction to Nicole Kidman, the singer. He replied, “I don’t know that it’s the introduction; it’s a one-off. Luke has asked her to do this song, and it was just a great song; it’s a great song anyway and the sentiment was good and Nic felt really comfortable singing it, so, I don’t know, it just sounds magical, the two of them sound so good together.”
So, will Urban and Kidman finally do a duet together? Keith shook his head and laughed, “No, not like that, no. But, who knows?” He added, “I think she is a bit shy when it comes to singing (laughs), probably like how I would be with acting.”
Looks like this is the closest we’re going to get to a Keith/Nicole duet for now.
