Want To Live In The Moment? Take a South Carolina Backroad!
South Carolina is a beautiful state, and once you venture off the interstate and hit the backroads, you see some of the best South Carolina backroads. Beaches, roadside stands, beautiful churches, and more. If you want to live in the moment, just take a South Carolina backroad!
My hobby, or you could call it a passion, is riding backroads. If I have time when I’m traveling somewhere, I always try to find a route that includes backroads. For me, it truly is living in the moment, seeing new things, and checking out small towns I have never been to.
Traveling backroads forces you to slow down and relax. There are small communities with a speed limit of 35 mph or slower, red lights, and plenty of stop signs. Getting behind a tractor is a bonus! Think five mph for a mile or so. I promise you’ll have time to check out the countryside.
South Carolina Backroads
I love all backroads but travel South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina the most. And I take pictures…. lots of pictures. Photography is my hobby. You’ll see some of my photos below from my road trips.
By the way, when you’re planning your next back road trip, a good playlist to fit the mood is always a bonus. After Jimmy Buffett passed away, I was on my way to Folly Beach, SC, and played Buffett songs on my way. And when I arrived at Folly, I saw the boat, in honor of Buffett. (see below).
This is a quote from an excellent article in Men’s Health.
“Going out for a drive lets us reflect and come back with greater insights,” says Eric Klinenberg, Ph.D., a professor of sociology at New York University and the author of Going Solo. “There’s something about being in the driver’s seat—with the sense of control it affords—that lets you think productively and solve problems.”
Y’all get out there and relax and enjoy a good back road soon!
