Kelsea Ballerini ‘Deeply Grateful’ For GRAMMY Nod
Kelsea Ballerini learned last week (11/10) that she is nominated for a GRAMMY for the fourth time in her career. This time, Kelsea is nominated among Lainey Wilson, Brothers Osborne, Tyler Childers, and Zach Bryan in the Best Country Album category for Rolling Up The Welcome Mat.
Ballerini said, “Making this record was simply my way of making sense of a really emotionally complicated place in my life. I went to one of my best friends and collaborators, Alysa Vanderheym, and she quietly and diligently helped me write my truth. I really don’t have the words for the pride I feel for this music and the way that it’s connected with people.”
She added, “It’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced. I’m deeply grateful to the Recording Academy for this honor. I am truly beaming.”
Ballerini was named to TIME’s prestigious 100 Next list as an artist. Country legend Shania Twain wrote about her for the issue. She thought back to when Kelsea came out. Twain noted how talented she was as a songwriter at such a young age. Twain said, “As a veteran songwriter, I’m always looking for authenticity. I’m really inspired by clever songwriting – songwriting that is not only thought-provoking and meaningful but, most of all, original. Kelsea writes with all those qualities.”

Kelsea has been the “it girl” in 2023. She’s had career milestones including a soldout headlining tour and an impromptu album release, Rolling Up The Welcome Mat, which garnered Kelsea a coveted nomination for CMA Album of the Year as well as the GRAMMY album nomination.
With all that momentum, Ballerini sat down and posed for a cover story in Nylon magazine. In the article, she admits, “I’ve always had this complex that people don’t think of me as a credible artist, that people just are like, ‘Oh, she got signed to a label, and she had a number one right off the bat, she’s blond, she’s glittery, she posts stuff, she’s this personality.”
She added, “That’s the thing that I care about the actual least. I have fun with all of that, but I’ve never cut a song I didn’t write. I never will.”
