Columbia County Could Be Home To The Next Chipotle In Augusta
Seems like it’s about time for another Chipotle to make its way to Augusta.
Chipotle wants to expand and it looks like the Augusta area could be included in that expansion. With 3,200 restaurants in North America alone, they are hoping to open 800 more locations around the nation. There are about 100 locations currently in Georgia.
Augusta is currently home to one Chipotle. There was one built at the Augusta Exchange in 2018. Now one could be coming to Columbia County.
The new Chipotle is headed for Evans, GA. Evans has been growing a lot of the past few years gaining many new businesses.
According to construction plans filed with CBI General Contractors located in Cumming, Georgia Chipotle will be located in front of Mullins Colony shopping center. Mullins Colony is a popular shopping center in Evans that is already home to Tropical Smoothie Café, Diablo’s, and McAlister’s, and other big-name businesses. Chipotle is also corporate-owned and none of its locations are franchises.
The CSRA is also home to another Chipotle in North Augusta, South Carolina. Another one was also built in Aiken in 2016, but it closed down in 2018.
Want to know more about the Tex-Mex chain restaurant?
It was founded by Steve Ells in 1993 in Denver, Colorado – Ells never intended for Chipotle to be as big as it is. The plans for Chipotle were to sell at least 107 burritos per day to be profitable, and then after some time use those funds to open a fine dining restaurant leaving Chipotle behind.
However, after just a month of being open in Denver, they were selling 1,000 burritos per day, and that’s where he then saw the potential for further success.
Fun Facts about Chipotle:
- Two Chipotle locations serve breakfast – both of those locations are located in a airport.
- Chipotle uses around 100,000 avocados a day.
- There is a such thing as free Chipotle for life cards.
Indulge In Cheesy Goodness With The Best Queso In The CSRA
Apparently, it’s National Pepperoni Pizza Day. And that’s great. I do love some pepperoni pizza. But I also learned that it’s National Queso Day. If you’ve ever listened to the Kicks Wake Up Krew, chances are you know my passion for queso. And I do have a list of the best queso in the CSRA… scroll down for my picks!
For The Love Of Queso
I’ve loved queso for as long as I can remember. And I won’t go to a Mexican restaurant without ordering queso. It’s just a non-negotiable for me. I truly believe I could eat queso every single day of the week. Even though it wouldn’t be healthy, I’d be one happy girl!
When it comes to queso, I am slightly picky. And if you know me, that shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. But I like my queso to be just straight cheese. I don’t mind spicy, but I prefer my queso without jalapenos. Especially large pieces of jalapeno.
And The Chips Too
Of course, when it comes to eating the queso, the chips you have to eat with it can play a big part too. Even though it’s not healthy, I do like my tortilla chips to be on the saltier side. And, I also like the thinner, crispier tortilla chips versus those thicker chips you find at some places. If you know, you know!
When it comes to buying chips at the store, I usually opt for the cheapest ones. That means I mostly grab the Santitas brand – the white corn tortilla chips. If I’m at Walmart and they don’t have Santitas, I’ll grab the Great Value Brand.
The Best Queso In The CSRA
I consider myself a queso connoisseur. And through the years, I’ve sampled a lot of queso. So I figured I’d share my top spots to get it around the CSRA. Let me know if you have some additional places for me to try! Email me!
