Brothers Osborne’s John: ‘The Most Eye-Opening Thing’ About Parenthood
Brothers Osborne’s John Osborne’s life has changed in many ways since he became a father of twins last March (2023). John told us in a recent interview that he feels a calmness when he’s with his children.
He told us, “When I’m with those kids, I have no anxiety. They teach me every day about being present and being just the simple things in life, you know? When I look at them, and I see them smile, I don’t think about how much the bus is going to cost this year, and this budget and where’s our song on the radio and what’s happening. I don’t care. I’m like, this is the most amazing thing ever. So, it is honestly the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me. Period.”
The proud papa feels very protective over the time spent with son Arthur and daughter Maybelle. He said, “I will say having kids, it makes me a little less patient with other people now than I used to be, because like I feel protective, like every decision now is going to affect them. Having kids is the most eye-opening thing in the world because you realize that you’ve been working for yourself for so long, for your own good. Now, everything I think of is how to provide better for them. How do I make sure their lives are great? It completely flips. Your brain goes that way. You’re a provider now.”

The brothers released their self-titled fourth studio album earlier this month, and several songs have risen to the top, like the duet with Miranda Lambert, “We Ain’t Good At Breaking Up.”
The song was written by the brothers, along with Jesse Frasure and Miranda. TJ told us about the day they wrote the song. “Miranda came in, and she was so fun to write with. It can be a little challenging to write with artists sometimes; you end up trying to write for each other and end up with a song typically for neither of you.”
TJ noted that this was not one of those times. He said, “In this instance, we knew we were writing for this project. We went in and definitely focused on this. Miranda was all for that. She took off her artist cap and put on her cap, and we were just really, really impressed with not only her writing ability but just the ease in how great she collaborates.”
