Girls’ Trip To North Myrtle Beach 2024 – Sun, Sand, And Lots Of Laughs
For the past few years, my oldest sister, Brooke, has been coordinating a girls’ trip each summer. They’ve gone a couple of places, but in the last couple of years, they’ve been going to North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This was the first year I had gone on this trip with them.
In previous years, the trip consisted of my mom and my sisters, and last year my aunt and cousin came along. This year, my aunt and cousin couldn’t make it, but my sisters decided to let the older girls (my nieces) come along. So three of my nieces came with us, along with my cousin’s daughter, who’s around the same age as my nieces.
Girls’ Trip
My sister has invited me along each year… but I made excuses or had to work and couldn’t go. This year, she gave me the dates and asked again. I finally decided I’d make it work. The plan was Friday, July 12th through Monday, July 15th. With those dates, I knew I’d only be able to go Friday through Sunday. But I decided part of the trip was better than nothing.
It has been a while since I’ve had more than a simple day trip to the beach. But I was excited to finally get back to the sun and sand and enjoy a little downtime. Plus, I’d never been to North Myrtle Beach (or Myrtle Beach in general) before. It’s about a 3 1/2 hour drive from where I live in North Augusta, so not too far.
A Weekend In North Myrtle Beach
On Friday, my mom, sisters, nieces, and cousin, were heading to North Myrtle from just south of Atlanta. They were going to have to go straight through Augusta anyway, so we planned to meet and I’d follow them up there. Since I had to come back early, I had to drive separately.
Thankfully, when they made it to town, two of my nieces decided to ride with me, which helped make the ride less boring! I let them play DJ and pick the music to listen to. I will say, I am glad they love country music like I do.
Along the way, I could see the clouds rolling in. And we did wind up getting rained on, which made the drive a little less enjoyable. But we made it to North Myrtle Beach around 6 p.m. It was still grey and slightly rainy, but the forecast showed it wouldn’t be like that all weekend.
Friday night we just hung out in the condo, got settled in, and ordered pizza. Once the pizza came, we gathered at the table, catching up, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company. We wound up staying up until 12:30 or so, which was quite the struggle for me!
On Saturday, my mom and I got up early to hit the exercise room before getting ready for the beach. After our workout, we got back and enjoyed some coffee on the balcony while we waited for everyone else to start stirring around. Then it was time to hit the beach. It was a bit cloudy, but the rain had stopped.
We spent most of the morning on the beach before heading up to eat lunch. But after lunch, it was right back down to the beach. By this point, the sun had come out and it had really warmed up. The water felt amazing, and Brooke, her two daughters, and I spent some time boogie-boarding in the water. It was so much fun and we laughed a lot because the waves kept knocking us over.
Dinner In North Myrtle Beach
After a fun day at the beach, we all headed up to get ready for dinner. My mom and sisters had been to the Sea Captain’s House before and really enjoyed it, so that’s where we planned to get dinner. We decided we would do a later dinner, hoping it wouldn’t be as long of a wait since we had a party of 8.
While we still had to wait a bit, we kept ourselves entertained til time to go in and eat. When our server asked where we were from, when I said I lived in North Augusta, he said he worked at the Augusta National for 5 years. We all ordered our food and enjoyed a delicious dinner. Then it was back to the condo to wind down. Somehow, we still managed to stay up pretty late.
My Last Beach Day
Sunday morning, I tried to “sleep in” but around 7 a.m. I was wide awake. Since it was my last day and I knew I had to leave around noon, I wanted to make the most of it. So my mom and I got our swimsuits on and went down for a walk on the beach. We got in a 3-mile walk and then just sat to enjoy the quiet beach. Soon, my sisters came down to join us.
We did check out the lazy river at the condo for a bit, then my mom and I went back down to the beach where I spent the rest of my time before having to shower and head home. I don’t know if it was because it was sunny, but the beach was definitely a lot busier than the day before.
Overall, it was a great girls’ trip. It was great to catch up with my mom and sisters, plus get to spend some much-needed time with my nieces too. That’s something I don’t get to do too much since they all live about 2 1/2 hours from me. So now, I just need to know next year’s dates so I can make sure to request the time off so I don’t have to leave early!
