Jordan Davis: ‘I Haven’t Been That Shocked In A Long Time’
Jordan Davis celebrated the number-one chart success of his fifth number-one song, “What My World Spins Around,” at Nashville’s Four Seasons Hotel yesterday afternoon (4/18). Sitting flanked by the song’s four co-writers, which included fellow artist Ryan Hurd, Jordan told us about getting a big ACM nomination in the Male Artist category that put him into shock.
Davis told us of hearing his name read as ACM nominations came out, “I’ll be honest with you, I haven’t been that shocked in a long time. Definitely the most shocked I’ve been since I started doing music.”
He added, “I knew I made it through to the last round, but you all see the other nominees in there, some heavy hitters. It was pure shock. In 2019, I was up for New Artist, so I think it goes to show that I’ve got a great team and great fans, and we made some great music that is connecting with people. The awards are amazing, but to be nominated with those guys is a huge win for me.”
Jordan admitted that he has had a little more pep in his step since the nomination. He said, “I think you always want to make sure that you’re doing something that’s special. I’ve always been confident in my music, but it feels good to see that it’s connecting. I think that’s the main thing. We all do this because we love it, and it is a lot easier to do something you love when you see that people are reacting to it.”

Davis recently announced his headlining “Damn Good Time Tour,” which kicks off this August (8/31) in Atlanta at the Roxy before heading to Nashville on Labor Day weekend (9/1), Philadelphia (10/5), New York (10/6) and Boston (10/7) before wrapping in Las Vegas in October (10/21). Tour openers include Avery Anna, Gabby Barrett, Danielle Bradberry, Flatland Calvary, Greylan James, Dylan Marlowe, Kameron Marlowe, Mike Ryan, Connor Smith, and Georgia Webster.
Before he headlines his own tour, Jordan is touring as part of Dierks Bentley’s “Gravel & Gold Tour.” He told us of his buddy Dierks, “When I grow up, I want to be Dierks Bentley. (laughs) I know I’ve made that joke before, but like I just love that guy to death. I feel like I know, not just Dierks; I know his band pretty well. Dan, his fiddle guy, I’ve known for longer than I’ve known Dierks. More importantly like, it’s a master class. That band is so good. Dierks is an entertainer to the nth degree, and just really, really great people and this job gets tough, and being on the road with really good people makes it a little bit easier.”
