Little Big Town: Kimberly’s Unthinkable ‘Barbie’ Transformation
Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman did something recently for Halloween that she has only done twice in her lifetime: she straightened her trademark blonde hair. The change was astonishing, and she did it to be one of her childhood heroes: Barbie.
Kimberly posted a video clip of the moments when she made the change on Instagram. She said in the video, wearing a blue sweatshirt with her signature locks still in place, “Hi ya’ll. Okay, so my girls (her daughter) want to be Barbie; they want all three of us to be Barbie for Halloween. I am going all in. I am about to get my hair straightened ( she gasps). I have only done that maybe twice in my life, so I thought that I would share it. I thought that I would share what’s gonna happen. I don’t know; it could take us three days to straighten my hair.”
The video shows the process of her getting her hair washed and then slowly straightened while the song “Barbie Dreams” plays in the background.
After the transformation, Kimberly shouts, “Look, we did it. I didn’t do it; Kelly ( the hairdresser) did it. Look how fun! This is so fun; my hair is straight. I love it. I’m gonna be Barbie; this is so much fun!”
Schlapman posted the photo of herself and her daughter in the post before for Halloween. She wrote, “Happy Halloween from Barbie World!!”

Little Big Town’s latest album release was their 10th studio album, Mr. Sun. Karen Fairchild said of the project when it came out, “Mr. Sun is intentionally an emotional record that holds hands well with our last album, Nightfall. Mr. Sun is focused on better days ahead, the value of friendships and family; it touches on heartbreak and letting go, but it’s full of sunshine and joy.”
Phillip Sweet added, “This album has a special feeling to it. We have collectively been through an unprecedented period making this album. Life is short; we are here to live it with the ones around us, loving them and ourselves the best we can. All the while, thankful for another turn around the sun.”
