What a night of great country music last night.  So at the Dwight Yoakam last night we were in country music heaven.  I knew we were going to love Dwight, He never disappoints.  One hit after another and he didn’t stop and sounded amazing.

We expected that, but what I didn’t expect was for the opening act to blow the lid off the place.  His name is Zach Top.  From the Great White North of Sunnyside, Washington, this guy is a name you will wanna remember.  He’s 25 years old and grew up listening to the country of Marty Robbins and was influenced by George Strait, Keith Whitley, and Randy Travis. You can tell this kid is all about traditional country music.

His set list last night included a lot of his original music but he also paid tribute to his heroes also.

Songs Zach Top Played At The Bell

  • I Think I’ll Just Stay Here And Drank, Haggard Cover
  • Two Dozen Roses, Shenandoah cover.
  • Pick Up Man, Joe Diffie
  • Don’t Get Above Your Raisin’

Now Let’s Talk About Dwight

From the minute he took the stage, it was hit after hit.  Now I have not seen Dwight in concert in many years.  I’m glad I stayed for this one.  He played songs from his first album right up to last big commercial album, Big Time.  Now what really got me was the song he opened up with.  It was a Carter Family song from 1928, “Keep On The Sunny Side.”  He put that Dwight touch on it and from there, it was on.

Some Of The Hits He Played

  • Please Please Baby
  • Little Sister
  • Streets Of Bakers Field, and He Did Buck’s Part
  • I Sang Dixie
  • You’re The One
  • Always Late
  • Pocket Of A Clown
  • Ain’t That Lonely Yet
  • Guitars Cadillac’s

Now if he did any Merle covers, please don’t tell me, I did leave a little early.  Here comes some songs that Zach did, both covers and originals.  Ya’ll enjoy and go look up Zach Top.  You will be glad you did.
