Just Who Is Tyler Childers?

  • June 21, 1991, Lawrence County, Kentucky
  • His father worked in the coal industry and his mother is a nurse.
  • Learned to sing in church where he sang in the church choir
  • He started to play guitar and write songs when he was 13
  • Married  Senora May in 2015, and they have one child

In 2011, his first album Bottles and Bibles was released when he was just 19 years old,  He knocked around the Lexington area of Kentucky playing shows for just about anyone who would listen.  His shows and dates went from just a handful of people to a few hundred to a few thousand.

In 2017 he released his second project called “Purgatory”  which was produced by his friend Sturgill Simpson.  Tyler was friends with Sturgill’s drummer, which is how the two met and decided to work together.  “Purgatory” has been labeled as a mix of Bluegrass, Twang, and Badass Attitude.   The album debuted at number 17 on the Country Albums chart and No. 4 on the Americana/Folk Albums chart.  Not too bad for a guy that didn’t come through Nashville.

So after 6 albums, Winning the “Emerging Artist of the Year” at the 2018 Americana Music Honors & Awards, “All Your’n”, was nominated for Best Country Solo Performance at the Grammy Awards and now Selling out venues from coast to coast including two nights at Madison Square Garden in New York, and Red Rocks in Colorado, Tyler Childers is becoming a household name.
