According to WRDW, at the time the accident occurred, the tractor trailer was transporting thousands of gallons of ethanol.
An update from the publication states that the Bobby Jones Expressway is closed near Doug Barnard on the eastbound side, and near Sandbar Ferry Road on the westbound side.
Local authorities are on scene to access the situation, but it is believed approximately 1,200 gallons of the substance spilled onto the expressway.
Cleanup crews are also on scene, however, it is not known when the roadway will reopen.
At this time, there are no reports of any injuries.
