Non-Profit in Augusta Can Help You Destress While Playing With Cats
I’m sure many of us are familiar with the term “therapy dog”, but what about a therapy cat?
Therapy is a great outlet for many, and in recent years experts have found ways to amplify therapy sessions with more than just the stereotypical meeting setting with a therapist. One of the ways therapy has expounded is with the combination of animals. There is goat therapy, dog therapy, cat therapy, and the list goes on.
I hadn’t heard much about cat therapy in general, let alone cat therapy being here in Augusta, until now! Dog and Networking Agents is a local nonprofit that helps save animals and put them up for adoption to eventually be placed with a caring family.
This organization offers different forms of cat therapy. In the past, they’ve had Unwind Wednesday. An event only for adults, that offers herbal teas, snacks, soothing music, and kitten therapy.
Another even is Cats and Coffee, an opportunity to have coffee, a snack, and a hour of play time with some cats.
They also offer Cat Yoga, which includes yoga with adoptable cats and a beverage.
More cat therapy events are in there future with one this week on July 8, Saturday from 1pm to 3pm. This includes cupcakes, coffee, and kittens.
Benefits of Cat Therapy
While Cats cant become a certified service or rescue pet, they can be used for therapy and as an emotional support animal. A therapy cat is trained to visit public spaces to interact with a variety of people.
