Where Walking Meets Eating – Augusta’s First Food Crawl Is Here!
If you think there’s nothing to do in Augusta, these two ladies beg to differ! But even then, they did notice that there was one thing missing from the city.
Franshetta [Fran] Carr and Lakeisha Germany, Owners of Foodie Trot, decided it was time to take the CSRA on a culinary adventure!
What is The Foodie Trot Augusta?
Foodie Trot is Augusta’s Only Food Crawl that allows you to discover the food scene of downtown. It is a 2-3 hour walking food tour where you get to explore and indulge in shareable dishes at 4 local restaurants.
There are three food trot selections that one can choose from: there’s the Broad Street Brunchin’ Trot – which has been the most popular amongst the community so far.
That comes at no surprise! The idea of Brunch is at an all-time high right now!
The next selection you can choose from is the Bites On Broad Trot. Wanting to know some new lunch spots? This is for you!
The last option is It’s 5’Oclock on the Riverwalk Trot. This is the happy hour trot! You not only get food but also 2 alcoholic beverages are included.
How Did The Foodie Trot Augusta Come About?
Fran and Lakeisha met 4 years ago hiking – they would make it a thing to take trips, even out of the country, to go hike and eat. So that became a thing for them – to hike and eat!
“We would also invite other people out to eat with us whenever we would hike and eat. So, it became a thing. But while we were in [Sacrametno] California, we did a culinary tour, and we came up with the idea, hey, let’s do something at home in Augusta because there’s so much to do,” Fran said.
They wanted to be a part of the tours that already happened in Downtown Augusta, but one that highlighted the restaurants in that area – not just any restaurants- but those local mom-and-pop shops.
“We went and prepped everybody [the local businesses].. we just started showing up and now they get it,” said Lakeisha.
Once they came up with the idea in November of 2023, they were already doing a soft opening of the tours by January 24 of this year!
“We had a website, FoodieTrot. com.We had our social media page up and running. So we were kind of prepping people in early January, saying that the Foodie Trot is coming. In January, we also met with downtown businesses, small businesses,” Fran said.
Where Did the Name Foodie Trot Come From?
The owners wanted something simple, yet catchy. They didn’t want to just go with a Food Walk, because it was above that so that is where they came up with trot.
“Trot to me is a little bit happier than just a walk,” Fran said.
How Do I Prepare For The Foodie Trot Augusta?
An empty stomach, walking shoes, and a positive attitude are the main three things that the owners say will prepare you for the trot.
Fran and Lakeisha want to show that you don’t have to go out of town to places like Atlanta to have an experience or to eat good food. It’s all right here! And The Foodie Trot Augusta is here to help.
