Country Cover Songs- Mark Chesnutt Vs. Aerosmith
There are a ton of great country cover songs out there, but which version is the best? In fact there might be some songs that you’ve heard that you didn’t even know were cover songs. Lets travel back to the late 90s shall we. In 1998, Steven Tyler and the guys from Aerosmith had released one of their biggest songs ever “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing”. Less than a year later in 1999, Mark Chesnutt released his version of the same song.
The song itself is incredible, so both versions are really good, but which one is better? Time for my take here. I love Mark Chesnutt, he’s one of my favorite artists from the 90s, but he should’ve left this one alone. I don’t know if it was Mark who wanted to record this song, or if it was his label trying to capitalize on the song’s popularity, but in my opinion it didn’t work for him. Maybe it’s because I heard the Aerosmith version of the song first, and loved it so much.
In my opinion, this is an Aerosmith song. When you think of “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” you think Aerosmith. I’m betting a lot of y’all had no clue Mark Chesnutt even covered this song. I’m going to include both versions, listen to them both and tell me if I’m wrong for thinking Mark Chesnutt’s version just wasn’t quite as good.
