Why people love this smell so much still has no specific answer but with the help of science we’ve got a few leads.
According to Discover.com, they’ve narrowed it down to two theories to explain why people in general love the smell of gasoline.
The first theory is the smell of gasoline triggers memories. There is often a powerful connection when it comes to certain smells that evoke a certain memory. For example, when you were a child the smell of gas meant fun road trips, sparking that memory in your head.
The second theory is that Benzine, a chemical in gasoline, when inhaled results in a temporary, euphoric feeling.
