Georgia’s Best Cookie Shop Also Serves Cake Tacos
In Georgia, a locally-owned cookie shop was named among the country’s best by USA Today’s 10Best. The primary criterion here was that they needed to be independently owned. They are described as “small businesses to family-owned endeavors.” USA Today’s 10Best list takes us into many small towns in all corners of the country to identify these great spots for sweet treats. However, the best cookie shop in Georgia has already gained some notoriety prior to this recognition. 10Best states, “If you haven’t tasted their cookies before, then you’re in for a real treat.”
The Sweet Shoppe of the South
Coming in at number four, The Sweet Shoppe of the South is located at 721 East Main Street in Blue Ridge, Georgia. Three months after the store was opened by Nikki Kaylor and Susan Catron, the two friends were headed to Hollywood. In fact, they won Cupcake Wars on The Food Network. Not a bad way to start a business.
Their cookie selection is listed under “Gourmet.” Their flavor options include peanut butter lovers, strawberry crunch sugar, and “the world’s best” chocolate chip. Furthermore, they offer a sweet treat called cake tacos (which is a thin layer of cake, followed tac0-style, and filled with frosting and toppings).
As it turns out, the best cookie shop in Georgia also bakes incredible cupcakes. Dozens of varieties can be found on their menu, in addition to specials of the month. On a busy month, 1,000 – 1,300 cupcakes are baked in-house per day.
Lastly, Sweet Shoppe of the South describes their desserts as “fresh, made from scratch, and served with a healthy portion of southern hospitality.” You can order in bulk on their website for large events such as parties or weddings.
