Darius Rucker Announces 2022 Theater Tour

Darius Rucker has been teasing new music, posting photos from the studio where he is recording his first solo album since 2017’s When Was The Last Time. With new music on the horizon, fans knew the touring news wasn’t far behind.

This morning (11/1) Darius announced that he will be visiting iconic venues across the country for intimate theater performances.

Rucker says, “It’s been a dream of mine for a while to bring our show to these beautiful theaters. Some of my favorite venue memories over the years are at places like the Apollo in New York or the Royal Albert Hall in London, as it’s just a different experience when you’re that close. With Hootie, we went straight from playing dive bars to arenas, so there are still a lot of theatres I’ve never had the opportunity to play. I’ll just say that this tour will have a lot of firsts, even for me.”

Beginning Thursday, February 17 in Philadelphia, “Darius Rucker Live” produced by Live Nation visits classic theaters in 12 cities including Boston, New York, Chicago, and more with support from Caylee Hammack on all dates.

Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning this Friday, November 5, at 10 a.m. CT via Ticketmaster.

12 Darius Rucker Songs You Need To Know

• 12. “Alright” – (2009)

  "Alright" was a song that Darius co-wrote with Frank Rogers and became his third number one country single. In the song, Rucker lists off the various pleasantries that he does not need, such as fancy food and wine. He then lists off what he does have and says that he is "alright" because of it.

  This song is one of my favorites. It was written by Rucker along with Tim James and Rivers Rutherford.

  This collaboration is solid and the video for the song shows the guys playing cowboy in the Old West. Rucker said that he chose to record the song because he had noticed the positive reaction it got when he first began his musical career and sang the song in bars.

  His second country single release and a great song. It describes a couple who have just had a baby, and throughout it chronicles how their lives change by the child's presence. In the first verse, the child is crying at night, keeping both parents awake. The mother then tells the father that evenings will change when the child grows.

  Okay, this is not just Darius but Hootie and The Blowfish. I mention it because the song is iconic, and I can’t recall the last time I went into a store where I didn’t hear it on the store’s speaker system. Without fail, one of my kids will say “Hey mom, there’s Darius.” Also, Post Malone did a great cover of it recently.
