A South Carolina State Park You May Not Think About

Plenty of hiking trails

Tee Gentry/BMG

I just found out about this state park a few months ago. It's a South Carolina state park you may not think about. Just outside of Aiken, it has trails, fishing ponds, and it's on the Edisto River. The Aiken State Park is part of the South Carolina State Parks.

Fishing and Relaxing

Canoeing and kayaking are popular here, and you'll always see people fishing in one of the three fishing lakes for largemouth bass and bluegill. If you're a camper, there are 25 camper spots here, too, and they can accommodate RVs up to 35 feet.

Picnic shelters are available, too.

If You Go...

Hours for the park are Monday through Sunday, 9 am to sunset. Admission is $3 for adults, $1.50 for SC seniors, and $1 for children 6 to 15 years of age. Children 5 and under are free.

The address for the Aiken State Park is 1145 State Park Road, Windsor, SC.

As I drove through and spent some time here, I couldn't help but think that this place has got to be so quiet in the middle of the night. It would be a great place to take your camper for a weekend and just get away for a while.

Tee has worked with KICKS 99 for over 24 years as Operations Manager and Program Director and is on-air each afternoon 3p-7p. When he’s not working, you’ll find him traveling the back roads, taking pictures, and searching for the next dive diner. Favorite place to visit? That’s easy. Folly Beach, SC. He’s usually there at least a few times a year. He lives in North Augusta and on Saturdays in the fall, you’ll find him cooking out and watching his Clemson Tigers. Tee likes to write about travel, Augusta local dive bars and diners and destinations in the Carolinas, as well as new business.
