Aiken County Schools Change Wednesday and Thursday Schedules Due to Idalia
The Aiken County School System has announced schools will dismiss two hours early on Wednesday, ahead of severe weather expected due to the effects of Hurricane Idalia.
School officials say in addition to the early dismissal Wednesday, there will be a two-hour delay starting school on Thursday.
“In anticipation of heavy rainfall and flooding, as well as the possibility of high winds as Idalia makes its way up the East Coast late Wednesday and into early Thursday morning, all Aiken County Public Schools and offices will close early tomorrow, Wednesday, August 30, and operate on a delayed start Thursday, August 31.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 30, all schools will dismiss students two hours early. Breakfast and lunch will be served in our schools tomorrow prior to the early dismissal. All after-school activities scheduled for tomorrow, including Quest Zone practices and events will be cancelled. Students at the Center for Innovative Learning (CIL) will have a remote learning day Wednesday due to the early dismissal schedule.
Thursday, August 31, all schools will operate on a two-hour delay. Due to Thursday’s delayed start, breakfast will not be served,
The Aiken County Career and Technology Center’s afternoon classes on Wednesday, August 30, and morning classes on Thursday, August 31, are cancelled.
