After Two Unfortunate Events Diablo’s Southwest Grill Is Set To Reopen On Wheeler Road
Diablo’s Southwest Grill on Wheeler Road in Augusta has set a tentative opening date to reopen!
You might recall that this location has had a couple of rough years after it was hit with back-to-back unfortunate situations – even where they had to close for a while.
Back in April of 2021, Diablos Southwest Grill on Wheeler Rd faced a break-in at 4 am. Well, this wasn’t just a regular break-in that happened, this was a break-in that made national headlines across the country. Instead of bringing law enforcement into the situation right away, store management posted on social media that they could tell this robber was someone who was struggling with life decisions or having money issues.
So they instead invited them to swing by and get a job application and encouraged the robber that there were better opportunities that they could take than the path they were choosing to go down.
“My cell is 706-513-3557. No police, no questions. Let’s sit down and talk about how we could help you and fix the road you’re on. Sincerely Carl”
This is an exact quote that was put out by the management.
And then just a year later in April of 2022, the Wheeler Rd location experienced a substantial fire that caused them to close for a while. Nobody was hurt in the fire, and all of the damage was done could fortunately be able to be repaired and renovated.
Now, they have a tentative open date of December 28.
They’ve completely rebuilt it and even added some upgrades. One of those additions is the Jones Soda Machine. They will also be doing some grand reopening specials like free queso days and rolling back the price days. Along with that, they will be doing giveaways.
This location has also begun hiring for anyone who wants to jump on board.
Indulge In Cheesy Goodness With The Best Queso In The CSRA
Apparently, it’s National Pepperoni Pizza Day. And that’s great. I do love some pepperoni pizza. But I also learned that it’s National Queso Day. If you’ve ever listened to the Kicks Wake Up Krew, chances are you know my passion for queso. And I do have a list of the best queso in the CSRA… scroll down for my picks!
For The Love Of Queso
I’ve loved queso for as long as I can remember. And I won’t go to a Mexican restaurant without ordering queso. It’s just a non-negotiable for me. I truly believe I could eat queso every single day of the week. Even though it wouldn’t be healthy, I’d be one happy girl!
When it comes to queso, I am slightly picky. And if you know me, that shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. But I like my queso to be just straight cheese. I don’t mind spicy, but I prefer my queso without jalapenos. Especially large pieces of jalapeno.
And The Chips Too
Of course, when it comes to eating the queso, the chips you have to eat with it can play a big part too. Even though it’s not healthy, I do like my tortilla chips to be on the saltier side. And, I also like the thinner, crispier tortilla chips versus those thicker chips you find at some places. If you know, you know!
When it comes to buying chips at the store, I usually opt for the cheapest ones. That means I mostly grab the Santitas brand – the white corn tortilla chips. If I’m at Walmart and they don’t have Santitas, I’ll grab the Great Value Brand.
The Best Queso In The CSRA
I consider myself a queso connoisseur. And through the years, I’ve sampled a lot of queso. So I figured I’d share my top spots to get it around the CSRA. Let me know if you have some additional places for me to try! Email me!
