Have you ever noticed sodas at McDonald’s taste a little different? Definitely different in a good way. But there is a reason why they taste different. We’ve gotten to the bottom of it thanks to a new article. So if you’ve ever wondered why that Coke or Sprite at McDonalds tastes better than other places, here is the answer.
Chillin’ Sodas At McDonald’s
According to an article from Men’s Journal, McDonald’s says that they aim to “ensure that they serve a high-quality fountain beverage”. Apparently, it’s all about how they chill things. McDonald’s says that they follow the guidelines set by Coca-Cola on how to best serve the drink. The article says the water and Coca-Cola syrup are pre-chilled before entering their fountain dispensers. Also, the ratio of syrup is set to allow for ice to melt. Have you noticed that a Coke at McDonald’s still tastes good after it gets watered down a little? Now we know why!
The Men’s Journal article also said that McDonald’s filters all water before they put it in their fountain dispensers. Also, McDonald’s gets the Coca-Cola beverage syrup delivered in stainless steel tanks. Those tanks keep the syrup fresh in transit and at each restaurant.
Even The Straw Is Different
Did you know that the straw at McDonald’s plays a part in why the sodas taste different? Yep, it’s a little bit wider than a normal straw. The reason according to the article is”so all that Coke taste can hit your taste buds.”
Anytime I go to McDonalds, I have to get a large Coke. I’ll sip on it for the rest of the afternoon because it just tastes that good!
