Kevin Winter/Getty ImagesEric Church's debut album has always been one of my favorites. It is on the short list of albums that I can listen to from start to finish and never get sick of. In my opinion, every song on that album is awesome. However, the song that I'm featuring this week is probably my favorite off of that album. It's the song that hit me the hardest the first time I heard the album. I remember thinking "Dang, what an awesome song!"
The History Of Eric Church's First Album
Eric Church's debut album "Sinners Like Me" came out in 2006. I can still remember the first time I heard it. Eric's name had a buzz around it at the time, every one around here was anxious to hear what this guy was all about. My buddy Zach Taylor had an advance copy of the album and he gave it to me to listen to. It was amazing.
Like I said earlier, I loved every song on the album. I listened to it from start to finish multiple times. Not only that, but I learned every word of every song! "Sinners Like Me" made it on the list of albums I can listen to from start to finish and never get sick of. Some of the other albums on that list include "This Time" by Dwight Yoakam and "Smoke Rings In The Dark" by Gary Allan.
There isn't a bad song on Eric Church's debut album, but the title track hit me like a ton of bricks. No one was writing and singing songs like that in 2006. Eric was different. Different in a good way. It took a while, but the world found out that he is one of the most talented artists in country music. I think it's safe to assume that we might not have Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs had it not been for Eric Church. They both credit Eric for getting them into country music.

Eric is one of my favorite artists, and I've been fortunate enough to spend some time with him over the years. Here are some of my memories with The Chief.
Dub’s Memories With Eric Church
These are some of my memories with Eric Church. The chief is celebrating a birthday today, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to relive some of these moments. I've been a huge fan of Eric Church since the first time I heard his debut album "Sinners Like Me" back in 2006. I've had the chance to see Eric in concert several times.
The first time I saw Eric live was in early 2007. He was opening for Dierks Bentley up at Clemson. As far as the first time I saw him here in the CSRA, it was at Guitar Pull 2007. It was his first and only Guitar Pull appearance. Thats not the only time Eric Church has played here however. Eric played at The Country Club several times and he also headlined A Day In The Country as well.
Of course, being the Eric Church fan that I am, I've gone to see him other places as well. I've seen The Chief in Atlanta several times, and it Columbia SC as well. If you ever get the chance to see Eric live, don't pass it up! He puts on an incredible show. He's an artist that literally puts everything he has into his live show.
I think thats whats made him such a big star. His music is awesome and so is his live show. I think my favorite Eric album will alway be "Sinners Like Me" and "Chief" is a close second. Of course none of his albums are bad. If you want to hear more Eric Church music and keep up with his tour and more, just click here.

Eric and Me In The Studio

Yeah, you can tell this one is old. Look how young we both are. This was taken in the Kicks studio before Eric performed at The Country Club that night.
Us In The Studio Again

As you can see, Eric Church has been in the Kicks99 studio many times. This was before another one of his shows at The Country Club.
Eric In Columbia

I had the chance to hang with Eric for a few minutes before one of his shows in Columbia.
Happy Birthday To Me!

Eric Church was performing in Atlanta on my birthday. What a great way to spend a birthday!
Extreme Close Up!

Full disclosure, this was a group picture with a bunch of other radio people in it. I cropped them out.
