Best Small Town In Georgia May Surprise You
It’s official. According to Southern Living, this is the best small town in Georgia for 2024. Georgia has many great small towns, and it’s a big deal if your town is voted the best.
Best Small Town In Georgia And More
As a matter of fact, the best small town in Georgia is also number 4 out of 15 on the entire list of best small towns in every southern state.
I do like Tybee. I’m a fan of beach towns that seem like it’s 1960. Buildings in the downtown area that have seen many years of tourists and locals enjoying this oceanfront award-winning town. Buildings that have stood the test of time. There’s something very charming about old beach towns just like this one.
You can stay in a wonderful piece of history, too. Tybee’s own Georgianne Inn, which dates back over 100 years, is located close to the pier and the pavilion and close to all of the restaurants and attractions.
Also, a must-see is Georgia’s oldest and tallest lighthouse. This Tybee fixture dates back to 1736 and includes a few lightkeeper’s cottages.
You can also enjoy a day at nearby Savannah, which is only a 30-minute drive from Tybee. Savannah was founded in 1733 and is the oldest city in Georgia. It’s definitely worth a day trip. I recommend the haunted pub crawl.
Back at Tybee, check out Doc’s Bar, the oldest dive bar on Tybee. Sounds like my kind of place. Doc’s opened in 1948 when a can of beer was around 60 cents. Ah, the good ole days.
This is one of the best small beach towns I’ve been to, and I’ll definitely go back. It’s hard not to relax when you’re at Tybee Island.
