2 Of The Friendliest Towns In South Carolina
Southern Living has just posted their 20 Friendliest Towns in The South, and South Carolina has two in the top 5.
Number 4 on the list is Spartanburg, SC.
First, Spartanburg is an affordable place to live. As a matter of fact, it’s almost 20 percent less expensive here than the national average. The area has great bike paths and outdoor fun, like Lake Craig at Croft State Park. You’ll find hiking, boating, enjoying a picnic, and more.
This friendly city is also close to Greenville, SC, which seems to win all of the awards for its downtown area, but Spartanburg has plenty to offer year-round. If you get the itch to check out Greenville, it’s only a 35-minute drive.
Spartanburg is also home to some great restaurants. One I checked out is Ike’s Corner Grill. It is a great little dive diner that seems almost lost in a neighborhood, but once you try their burgers, you’ll be back. The beer is cold, too.
According to Zillow, housing in the Spartanburg area is affordable, with the average price of a home at $220,890.
Spartanburg is home to BMW, Michelin, Denny’s, and more. NASCAR’s great David Pearson and Toy Caldwell of the Marshall Tucker Band are from this city.

Number 2 on the list is Beaufort, SC.
This is a great coastal town in South Carolina. There is a breathtaking picture everywhere you look, from the marsh to the downtown area with shops along the street where you can find just about everything.
Do yourself a favor, start walking when you get here, and check out the historic homes around the downtown area. Also, take a stroll on the waterfront, relax on one of the swings, and take in the view.I
Fripp Island is close by, too. Plus, I found another great burger place here. Check it out HERE.
