Empty The Shelters – Aiken Shelter Participates In National Adoption Event
The Aiken County Animal Shelter is participating in the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty The Shelters event again this year. This national adoption event takes place from May 1st through May 15th to help shelters around the country to get pets adopted out and free up space in their facilities.
The BISSELL Pet Foundation sponsors this event to offer reduced adoption fees at over 400 organizations in 43 states. Their ultimate goal is to find loving homes for every pet.

About The BISSELL Pet Foundation
The BISSELL Pet Foundation is a national animal welfare organization. Their motto is: “Until every pet has a home.” The foundation offers support to animal welfare organizations. They help provide resources with the goal to reduce the number of animals in shelters. Through various programs, they provide help for pet adoption, spay and neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, and crisis and disaster response.
The BISSELL Pet Foundation created the Empty The Shelters event, and it’s the nation’s largest funded adoption event. They help homeless pets get adopted by making adoption more affordable during this special event. Participating organizations receive reimbursement from the BISSELL Pet Foundation for every pet adopted. Some shelters offer reduced adoption fees, while some, like Aiken County Animal Shelter, completely waive the fee.
Empty The Shelters was established in 2016. Since then, the event has helped find homes for nearly 190,000 pets from participating shelters in 49 states and Canada.
