Most Patriotic States – Where Georgia And South Carolina Rank
What are the most patriotic states? With July 4th coming up, I was wondering which states are considered the most patriotic. Also, I was interested to see where our home states of Georgia and South Carolina would land on the list. I’d like to think we’re pretty patriotic in this area, but will this list reflect that? Let’s take a look at the stats.
Which States Are The Most Patriotic?
The folks over at WalletHub put this list together. They compared all of the states across 13 key indicators of patriotism. Some of those factors include the state’s active military enlistees and veterans. They also took into account the number of people in that state that voted in the 2020 presidential election. So the main two areas were military engagement and civic engagement.
So where did Georgia and South Carolina land on the most patriotic states list? Well, let’s take a look at the top ten and see.
- Virginia
- Alaska
- Montana
- Maine
- Oregon
- Colorado
- New Hampshire
- Washington
- Maryland
- Hawaii
Do y’all see what I see? With the exception of Virginia, there aren’t any Southern states in the top ten of the most patriotic states list. How can that be?
So, where did Georgia and South Carolina land on the list? Georgia checked in at number 23, and South Carolina was number 26. I’ll be totally honest, that really surprises me. I thought that both states would be either in the top ten or right outside the top ten. After diving into the stats a little more I found that Georgia’s military engagement was great, where we lost points was with voting and civic engagement. The same was true in South Carolina as well.
Well, we may not have landed in the top ten of the most patriotic states list. However, it doesn’t matter what the data says, I live here, and I know that we are pretty patriotic here in the CSRA.
