The 2024 Believe Prom in Edgefield was a night where so many smiles and a lot of laughter filled the air and memories were created that a lot of people will never forget.

For the 3rd year in a row, The Edgefield County Chamber of Commerce presented the annual Believe Prom in Edgefield at the National Wild Turkey Federation Shooting Complex. This is a prom night for folks 12 years old and older with special needs.

What Is The Believe Prom In Edgefield?

This is a night where young adults and adults with special needs get to shine, let their hair down, and have a great time of fun that includes dressing up like rock stars, walking the red carpet, dancing, and eating.

From 5 till 7 prom guests arrive early to have their hair fixed and nails done and make sure their ties look good and are ready to go.

The prom itself started at 6 pm. When the prom guests arrive, they are met at the start of the red carpet. Calvin Henderson, who is the chairperson for the Believe Prom in Edgefield, gave me the honor this year of being the host and introducing each prom guest.

When the guests arrived on the red carpet, they would tell me their name and where they are from and I had the honor to introduce them to the welcoming gallery that lined the red carpet.

Then The Party Begins

Once the prom guests walk the red carpet, they have their official Believe Prom photo taken, they get their goodie bag, and then it's off and running for the night.

Once prom guests have entered, a full buffet of food awaits them full of chicken fingers, pizza rolls, egg rolls, sliders, a donut tree, and free ice cream from The First Baptist Church of Edgefield.

After a big meal then a night of dancing and picture taking begins. The party goes till around 9 or so and as you see each prom guest leave, they are worn out from dancing and still leave with a smile on their face.

Be A Part Of The Believe Prom Next Year

It really takes many people who work year-round to make this night possible. Businesses from all over the community come together to sponsor this great night. Volunteers are there to help with the one-on-one attention that is needed, fixing the hair and doing the nails, all volunteer work. The setting up and breaking down of the tables and all of the decorations all happen because of volunteers.

If you would like to know more about how to be a part of the Believe Prom as a sponsor or a volunteer, you can reach out to Calvin Henderson by phone at (803) 480-1255 or email Calvin at calvindj@att.net.

This donut station was the most visited food station and with good reason. Can't disagree with each guest who enjoyed it
