The Biggest Concert Event Of The Year In Augusta
KICKS 99’s Guitar Pull is about three weeks away. It’s The Biggest Concert Event Of The Year In Augusta. All the preparation has been done, and the artists have been booked for months. Now, it’s wait and get excited for November 14th! KICKS 99’s Guitar Pull.
Anyone who has been to Guitar Pull will tell you it’s an exciting night. This concert is different than all the rest. No full bands, no pyrotechnics. Just the stars and their guitars playing country music and having a great time with over 6,000 country fans in Augusta.
Come Early!
If you haven’t been before, make sure you get to the James Brown Arena early. You’ll have time to check out the cool Guitar Pull merch and have a drink or two as you find your seat. When you arrive at your ticketed seat, you’ll find a KICKS Guitar Pull bag loaded with cool stuff from some of the best businesses in Augusta.
While everyone is coming into the venue, the backstage area is busy with excitement as the artists arrive, along with their guitar players and managers, and they all mingle and talk backstage.
Show Time
At 7:30, the lights go down, and the show begins. We have always opened the show with the National Anthem sung by local talent. This year, it will be Joe Stevenson, who is doing shows now with Hootie and the Blowfish member Mark Bryan.
Once the show begins, the energy lights up the arena. The artists become fans of the other artists as they each play a song and pass it on to the next. They’ll be singing, telling some jokes, and maybe even some dancing along the way.
Pullin’ That Guitar
In the first set, each artist does one song and passes it to the next artist. The term “guitar pull” started when artists passed their guitar to the next when they finished their song. Guitars are too expensive to share now! Each artist will do two songs. Then, a fifteen-minute intermission and we begin again, two songs for each artist.
Then we ask each artist, for their last song, to do a song they used to play in the bars when they started in the business. This is my favorite part. You never know what you’ll hear!
Then, it’s time for us to start thinking about the next Guitar Pull as fans and artists leave the building. Next year will be our 25th anniversary, and we will start working on it the next day.
We can’t wait to see you on November 14th at the James Brown Arena!
