I bought a cigar at an excellent little cigar shop while I was there and asked the guy where I could smoke it, Inside or outside. He said, dude, you’re in Key West. Smoke it wherever you want to. I loved it!
2- Sure, the drive is long, but once you get to the keys, you see the most incredible scenery you’ve ever seen on the bridges to Key West. The Overseas Highway is 113 miles of bridges through the Florida Keys. Now, you’ll be happy you drove!
3- Bars. Lots of them. Everyone is in a good mood, mainly because of the bars, but the fun and good times spread from the bars into the streets. I felt very safe, and everyone was just really enjoying themselves.
4- Truman Little White House. According to Key West Museum history, Its most important usage was as the winter White House of Harry S. Truman, who spent 175 days of his presidency here from 1946 through 1952.
5- Sloppy Joe’s Bar. Open since 1933, it was a favorite place for Ernest Hemingway to have a cold one. You can visit the Hemingway Museum while in Key West, too. You might even see one of the famous six-toed cats roaming the grounds, descendants of Hemingway’s original six-toed cat, Snow White.
6- Take a selfie in front of the Southernmost Point Buoy in Key West, marking the southernmost point in the continental United States. Smile!
7-Experience the Key West Sunset celebration at Mallory Square. You’ll see live music, vendors, and one of the best places in the country to see a sunset.
