Destructive Therapy in the CSRA – Rage Rooms
Have you ever heard of “destructive therapy”? It’s a chance to release some stress and frustration by destroying things. But safely! It’s a practice to let it all out, a chance to throw a little tantrum. As adults, we can’t necessarily throw tantrums when we’re upset. But two new destructive therapy locations have recently popped up in the CSRA!
Dahman’s Revenge – Augusta
First you have Dahman’s Revenge. This “rage room” is located at 2326 Walden Drive in Augusta. According to WJBF, this is a woman and veteran-owned business, and the first of its kind in Augusta.
There are different rooms, depending on the package you purchase. You must sign a waiver, use protective gear, and follow the rules laid own. But, you have a variety of weapons to use, along with many items to throw and smash.
Dahman’s Revenge also has a paint room. In this room, you can fling paint on each other, on a canvas, or just around the room. The process behind all of this is for therapeutic release. The owner, Rhina Dammann, told WJBF, “A lot of people don’t realize how important temper tantrums are to us.”
This therapy is a way to release pent-up anger and frustration in a healthy, safe way.
Jekyll and Hyde Destructive Therapy – North Augusta
Jekyll and Hyde Destructive Therapy just recently opened at 102 Holley Hill Drive in North Augusta. This is also a veteran-owned business. They are an “entertainment venue designed to provide an opportunity for everyone to release some pent-up anger or just a means of relieving some stress.”
They give you the opportunity to smash electronics, a car, bottles and more. While they have a few entertainment areas, they do plan to expand in the coming months with boxing, paint throwing, plate smashing and more.
Ages are 10 and up, but under 16, you must be accompanied by an adult. Reservations are required. No walk-ins are accepted.
