Guitar Pull Star Jake Owen Is On Dub’s Playlist This Week
This picture is from 2018. It was taken before Jake went on stage to headline the first concert at SRP Park in North Augusta.
This week Jake Owen is featured on Dub’s playlist. The 2023 Kicks99 Guitar Pull is getting closer and closer, so I figured we needed a song from a Guitar Pull star this week. Of course Jake has a ton of great songs to choose from. I decided to go with one of his early ones. You probably haven’t heard this one in a hot minute.
Jake popped on the scene back in 2006. He released his debut album “Startin’ With Me” that year. There were three singles featured on that album. There was “Yeehaw”, “8 Second Ride” and “Startin’ With Me”. I was listening to this album the other day. Honestly, I forgot just how good it was. If you’ve never heard it, I would definitely recommend you check it out.
I’ll never forget the first time I saw Jake perform live here in Augusta. It was around the time his album came out back in 2006. We had Jake at Coyotes for a show. He did a pre-show party at Longhorn earlier that afternoon, and then brought the party that night. The first time I’d ever had a margarita was with Jake Owen. Jake made it for me, and to say it was strong is definitely an understatement.
We’ve had a lot of great memories with Jake over the years and can’t wait to have him back for Guitar Pull this year.

Speaking of awesome memories with Jake, here are some of mine.
Dub's Memories With Kicks99 Guitar Pull Star Jake Owen
I go way back with Kicks99 Guitar Pull star number one, Jake Owen. Just like a lot of y’all I was so excited to find out that Jake Owen was coming back to the James Brown Arena for Guitar Pull this year. So many of us have seen Jake’s career grow and take off over the years. Jake is no stranger to Kicks Country, he’s been through to see us a bunch over the years.
Back in 2006 I can remember hanging with Jake Owen at Longhorn on Washington Rd. He was there doing an acoustic pre-show thing for some of our Kicks listeners before he played at Coyote’s that night. Jake Owen has played everything from a Valentines Day show at The Country Club to the Western Carolina State Fair in Aiken.
Jake has headlined his own tour at the James Brown Arena back in 2014. He even headlined the first concert at SRP Park back in 2018. See what I mean when I say. that Jake Owen is no stranger to Kicks Country. He loves playing here, and we love having him. This will be Jake’s second trip to the Kicks99 Guitar Pull, he played it last back in 2017.
He always puts on a great show, and this year’s Guitar Pull will be no different. If you want to keep up with everything thats been going on with Jake Owen, just click here.
