Walgreens Is Slashing Prices on More than 1,000 Items
Walgreens is slashing prices on more than 1,300 national and store-brand items, at least for now, to help consumers with rising costs.
Walgreens says it’s an effort to make basic necessities more affordable as Americans struggle to pay things like rent and auto insurance.
Some Items Being Reduced
- One-A-Day 80ct Men’s and Women’s Gummy Vitamins now $11.99 (was $13.49)
- Always Pad Mod Regular (20ct) now $6.99 (was $7.49)
- Clean & Clear Foaming Facial Cleanser now $6.99 (was $7.99)
- Eucerin Advance Repair Hand Cream now $5.99 (was $7.29)
“Walgreens understands our customers are under financial strain and struggle to purchase everyday essentials. We continue to be committed to our customers by lowering prices on over a thousand additional items, something we’ve been doing since October of 2023,” said Tracey D. Brown, Walgreens’ retail president and chief customer officer.
Walgreens also announced today it plans to introduce a series of promotional campaigns in the weeks ahead, including the return of its myWDays in mid-July. Officials said prices may vary by location.
Other Stores Recently Announcing Price Cuts for the Summer
- Target: Target announced earlier this month it was slashing prices on an estimated 5,000 items in its stores. Customers can expect to see lower prices on things like milk, meat, bread, snacks, coffee, diapers, paper towels and much more.
- Aldi: Aldi recently announced price cuts on at least 250 items including better-for-you foods, travel-ready snacks and barbecue essentials.
- Michaels: Michaels is also trying to help consumers save money by lowering costs on more than 5,000 items including home decor, art supplies, seasonal items, kids’ projects, wall frames, and much more.
- Walmart: Walmart has cut prices on more than 7,000 items, mostly across food categories, but no specifics were listed.
- Amazon Fresh: Amazon Fresh has discounted more than 4,000 items, including name brand and their own brand products. Discounts are up to 30% online and in-person stores. Customers can expect savings on things like frozen food, meat and pasta.
Retailers all announcing recent price cuts say their discounts are expected to run at least through the summer. The price cuts will help not only the consumer, but should help boost lagging sales as customers try to find more ways to save money.
